Confirmed Issue:
No power to solar controller.
Affected Units:
Vandoit units containing the GoPower solar controller
Summary:
The solar controller has no power. There is no information displayed on the screen. The screen will not turn on. All other electric devices (lights, outlets, fan, etc.) ARE WORKING in the van.
Confirmed Issue Explanation/Steps:
Before diagnosing, check power to the ceiling dome lights and other rocker switches. If there is power to these devices, the problem is most likely the fuse for the solar controller. First, you will want to disconnect power to the controller and plug it back in. If this does not work, check the solar fuse to see if it needs replacing. If there is no power to lights, this indicates a different power problem.
Resolution:
1. Remove a panel to access the fuse block. For the DO model, the first black panel above the inverter on the power tower (about chest high) has fuses behind it. It's a square panel with 6 button head screws. For the LIV model, this is the big clear panel with 10 button head screws. Behind these, there should be a fuse block with 8 to 12 clear fuses.
2. If your fuse block is labeled, locate the fuse labeled "Solar." If fuses are not labeled, you will need to remove them one at a time and inspect to see if there is a blown fuse. See the picture below to identify a blown fuse; essentially, the metal wire inside is broken or split when blown. If not blown, place the fuse back and take the next one out. If the fuse is blown, you should be able to find one at local hardware store to replace the fuse if a fix is urgent.
