Confirmed Issue:
The GoPower IC2000 monitor displays a "UVP Shutdown" error message. The inverter stops working and will not power devices in the van.
Affected Units:
Any Vandoit van with an AGM battery system
Issue Explanation:
UVP stands for "under voltage protection." The UVP Shutdown message lets you know that the incoming voltage falls below the set amount on the GoPower controller. The van will need to be charged or the inverter will stop operating.
Resolution:
1. Turn off and unplug all devices in the van.
2. Turn off the inverter.
3. Plug the van into shore power. If shore power is unavailable, drive the van for at least 10 minutes so the van battery can send charge to the Vandoit battery system.
4. After the van has charged, turn the inverter back on.
Considerations:
1. The Dometic Penguin II air conditioner demands a large amount of power and should be run when the van is plugged into shore power. If it runs while the van is not plugged into shore power, it will quickly drain the battery bank and may trigger the UVP Shutdown message.
2. The hot water heater also demands a large amount of power; it pulls approximately 1400 watts every time it turns on in order to heat up the water and will drain the battery bank quickly. If your van has an AGM battery system, Vandoit recommends that the hot water heater only be used when the van is plugged into shore power. It is best to turn the hot water heater off when it is not in use. Note, it is not uncommon for the hot water tank to get accidentally turned on by kids, other passengers, or luggage that bumps into it. The water pump can be used without concern; it pulls a smaller amount of power than the hot water heater.
