How to Change the Winch Controller's Batteries

Article Objective:
In this article, you will learn how to change the batteries in a Warn winch controller.

Affected Units:
Any Vandoit with a Warn winch installed in the front bumper

Issue Explanation:
The winch controller can used both directly plugged in and wirelessly. When attempting to using the controller wirelessly, the controller is providing no audible or visual feedback, indicating it is out of power.

Resolution:
Tools needed: 
  1. Philips screw driver
  2. 2 AAA batteries


1. Unscrew the three bolts in the controller while holding both sides together.



3. Once all three bolts are loose, pry the sides apart.



4. Locate the two AAA batteries and replace them with new batteries.



5. Put the controller back together, by placing both sides together and screwing all three bolts tight.
