Article Objective:
In this article, you will learn how to adjust the run time limit on the Espar Digi-Max D-1000 controller in your Vandoit.
Affected Units:
Vandoit vans with the Eberspaecher Digi-Max D-1000 controller installed.
Issue Explanation:
The Espar heater thermostat, Digi Max D1000, is set with a 10-hour run time limit when it leaves the Vandoit facility. The Espar will run for the full 10 hours, unless the Ford Transit gas tank is below or reaches 1/4 tank of gas. Some van owners wish to adjust this run time limit.
If you wish to adjust the Espar run time limit, use the following steps:
1. Find a paper clip (or similar object) and insert it into the hole on the right. At the same time, hold the left blue triangle.
2. Remove the paper clip from the hole on the right, but keep holding the left blue triangle until you see "maintenance mode" come up on the screen.
3. A "Memory Test OK, Diag Line OK" message will come on next, followed by a question to "Diagnose now?" Select "NO", by pressing the left blue triangle.
4. Next it will display the total "Runtime" of the Espar and ask if you want to clear this information. Again, select "NO" by pressing the left blue triangle.
5. The Espar will then cycle through its current settings.
6. "Change Settings?" comes on the screen next. This time, select "YES" by pressing the right red triangle. It will ask you to set the "Maintenance Perd." Select 2000, by hitting the right red triangle. Next it will ask you to set "Undervolt Shtdwn"; leave this at "11.4" by hitting the center power button.
7. The option for changing the run time will now appear. To increase the run time, press the red right triangle. To lower the run time, press the left blue triangle. If you want to remove all time limits, continue hitting the left blue triangle until "Unlim." appears. When you have selected your new desired run time, confirm it by pressing the center power button.
8. The last screen that comes on asks you to select a temperature scale. To keep it as Fahrenheit, select "F" by pressing the left blue triangle.
