To access the Deutsch connection and diode above the front rocker switch location on vehicles that do not have a Ford overhead shelf, the Ford trim with the passenger climate controls needs to be removed.
1. To remove the trim, pry the top clips out of the headliner.
2. Carefully move your finger towards the curve in the trim and pull the trim piece away, fully removing it from the headliner.
3. Reach into the space behind the trim and locate the gray Deutsch connector.
4. Inspect the wires going into the connectors as well as how tightly woven the diode is around the yellow and green cable.
5. If needed, use needle-nose pliers to weave the wiring more tightly.
6. Test the rocker switches.
