LIV Hydraulic Bed Posts Move or Are Uneven

LIV Hydraulic Bed Posts Move or Are Uneven

Confirmed Issue:
One or more of the LIV hydraulic actuator bed posts moves up and down more than the others and/or the posts are uneven in height.

Affected Units:
Any LIV Model Vandoit van

Issue Explanation:
The hydraulic posts that support the LIV bed depend on fluid to operate correctly.  A fluid leak can lead to bed posts that move unevenly or are uneven in height.
Be aware that seat head rests, the subwoofer in vans with audio upgrades, and items placed on top of the black panels below the bed can prevent the bed from lowering evenly.
Resolution:

1.  Make sure that the screws that hold each of the actuators in place are tight.

2.  Feel for oil that has pooled around the base of all four actuators.

3.  With a person on the bed, measure the distance of all four poles from the top of the side cabinets to the bottom of the beds. All actuators should be within 1/2 inch tolerance of one another, meaning the highest measurement and lowest measurement should be no more than 1/2 inch apart. Send pictures of all 4 actuator measurements to support@vandoit.com or submit a ticket through the Customer Support portal for next steps.

4.  If a pool of oil is visible, or if one of the actuator poles has a difference of 1/2 inch or greater, the leak will need to be fixed and then the actuators will need to be bled and refilled.

The next step will be isolating where the fluid is leaking from to help determine which parts are needed to fix the leak. To do this, you will need to get clear view of where the fluid is coming from as well as inspect other areas.

1.  Remove the black ABS panel with the solar controller on the driver's side cabinet to get a view of the actuators and master cylinder. The cylinder will look like a bigger black rectangular piece. Hydraulic lines will be connected to this.

2.  Inspect the master cylinder and actuators for any fluid coming out of the brass-colored connections or on the floor underneath them. You may want to look for dried past residue as well.

3.  If you find fluid or fluid residue, request a service appointment at Vandoit by emailing support@vandoit.com or submitting a ticket through the Customer Support portal.
