How to Disassemble Storage Modules

How to Disassemble Storage Modules

Article Objective:
To disassemble storage modules for relocation within the van or removal from the van

Affected Units:
Any Vandoit with Galley & Storage Modules installed

Tools Needed:
4mm T-handle ball-end Allen wrench
5mm T-handle ball-end Allen wrench
6mm T-handle ball-end Allen wrench

Resolution:
All Vandoit Galley & Storage Modules can be removed from their current location using the above Allen wrenches.

Alert
Before disassembling modules, if your van has a water system, make sure the water pump is turned off and water lines are not pressurized.

Idea
See this video for a demonstration of this process.

1. To gain access to the black brackets securing the modules to the wall or bolts securing the modules vertically, module drawers will need to be removed. Removing the drawer provides access to the bolts and roll-in nuts.  To remove the drawer, fully extend the drawer.  On the left and right sides of the drawer slide, there is a gray plastic tab.  Push the left tab up and the right tab down to fully release the drawer and remove it.

2. To remove the bases from the van framing, there will be black L-brackets mounting the base to either the floor or wall frame.  Remove the bolts and the roll-in nuts holding the L-brackets in place.  Then remove the L-brackets themselves, followed by the bases.  We recommend 2 people remove the base together due to its weight.

3. To remove a top that is mounted on top of a base, simply remove the 2 bolts in the middle of the lower front and lower rear extrusion bars using a 5 mm Allen wrench.

4. To separate a top module from the one next to it, there is a bolt and a roll-in nut on the vertical extrusion bars holding the two top modules together.  Simply remove the bolt and roll-in nut.  Additionally, if a top is connected next to a base module (this is often done to install a single top module above the Espar in LIV and DO models), there is a small L-bracket connecting these two modules that will need to be removed in order to remove the modules.

5. To separate the bases from one another, there are 2 bolts holding them together: one near the top, and another about ⅔ of the way down the height of the base.  Simply remove these bolts in order to separate the bases.
