Espar “motor speed” error message

Confirmed Issue:

The Espar Digi-Max D-1000 displays the error message "motor speed."



Affected Units:

Any Vandoit van with a Espar Digi-Max D-1000 controller.

Explanation:

The Espar Digi-Max D-1000 displays the error message "motor speed" and will not run.

Resolution:

DO Model:

1. Confirm the Espar is off.

2. Inspect the back side of Espar box for damage.



3. Remove any objects on or resting against the back side of Espar box.

4. Use a 5mm allen wrench to remove the bolts on the top of the Espar box.



5. Open the Espar box.

6. Remove the Espar cap on the back side of the furnace.

 


7. Try to manually turn the fan.



8. If the fan will not spin freely, please submit a ticket through the Vandoit Customer Support portal or email support@vandoit.com.  Include a description of the fan's operation and photos and/or video of the fan if possible.

LIV Model:

1. Confirm the Espar is off.

2. Use a 4mm allen wrench to remove the bolts holding the black ABS panel in place that sits below the electrical cabinet.  (The panel will rest at an angle rather than removing completely, due to the wiring to devices in this panel.)



3. Inspect and remove anything that may be blocking, damaging, or impeding the back side of the Espar furnace.



4. Remove the Espar cap on the back side of the furnace.





5. Try to manually turn the fan.



6. If the fan will not spin freely, please submit a ticket through the Vandoit Customer Support portal or email support@vandoit.com.  Include a description of the fan's operation and photos and/or video of the fan if possible.


If the steps above do not resolve the issue, please submit a ticket through the Vandoit Customer Support portal or email support@vandoit.com with a description of what you are experiencing and photo(s) of the Espar error message(s).
