Understanding the CZone Touch 7 Display and Keypads

Article Objective:

This article covers how to use the CZone Touch 7 Display and keypads, as well as one troubleshooting approach.

Affected Units:
Beginning in 2023, some Vandoit MOOV and Commercial vans received the CZone Touch 7 Display and keypads as part of their lithium electrical system.

Info
See this video for a quick overview of the CZone Touch 7 Display and this video for an overview of the keypads.

How to Use the CZone Touch 7 Display:
1. Tap the screen once to wake it up.
2. Tap the top left icon (3 rectangles) or swipe the side pull-tab to reveal a drop-down menu of options:

      a. Favourites: This is a quick reference page of system information as well as quick access to device and lighting buttons. Swipe the screen left or right to view other Favourites control options, such as turning on zones of dome lights, accent lights, and exterior lights. Use this menu to view battery health and time remaining to 100% charge, check amperage draw, and adjust the incoming amperage.

Some of the Favourite Modes may include:

  1. Day Mode: Sets interior lighting to pre-selected settings for daytime use.
  2. Night Mode: Sets interior lighting to pre-selected settings for nighttime use.
  3. All Off - Inv On: This option turns off all devices while keeping the inverter on, which allows you to turn AC-powered devices back on when you need to. This is especially helpful for nighttime use, when owners typically want all lighting off but would like the option to turn on devices that are plugged into wall outlets, such as phones.
  4. Other Modes: These modes vary by van. Each includes pre-selected settings for interior lighting, usually fine-tuned for a specific use case.  Select the desired mode in the menu to the left, and then press the "on" button to the right to activate that mode.

      Other notes on this menu:
  1. Shore Power: This option confirms whether shore is plugged in or not and displays incoming amperage from the shore power cord.
  2. Car Voltage: This option displays data on the Ford chassis battery health along with how much amperage the alternator is sending into the Vandoit battery.

      b. Modes: This menu is intentionally left blank.

      c. Control:
  1. This menu allows you to turn on and off all of the DC-powered electrical devices and the inverter, which sends power to the AC-powered wall outlets.
  2. Note that you can control both interior and exterior devices (i.e. exterior light bars) from this menu.
  3. Use the up and down arrows next to lighting zones to dim and raise lights to your desired setting.  Press and hold an up or down arrow in a lighting zone to display a bar that allows you to adjust the lighting to a specific percentage.
  4. To use accent lights, press "Accent Power On." Use the "Accent Select Play" option to cycle the accent lights through a rainbow of colors, and press the "Accent Select Pause" button to pause and display only the accent light color.
  5. Two of the options on this menu include "relay closed" and "relay open." Closing and opening the relays should not be needed unless you are directed by the Vandoit Support Team to use these options.
      d. Monitoring: This menu displays current voltage and amperage of the Mastervolt battery, inverter, Ford chassis battery, alternator, and shore power.

      e. Alarms: This menu displays any active alarms and their level of importance. The history tab toward the bottom shows any past alarms.

      f. Settings: Use this menu to adjust settings on the Touch 7 like backlight level, sounds, and font size. Note that if you change font size, it may impact readability of text on the display.

Control CZone from an iPad:
The CZone system can be controlled from an app on an iPad.  View this video for how to connect the iPad app to your Czone system: https://youtu.be/IyW_gdehHys

How to Use Keypads:

  1. Press a button on the keypad once to wake it up.  Press the desired button to activate that device.
  2. Keypads are labeled to control different devices inside and outside the van.
  3. Press and hold the power button to the right to turn off all devices except the inverter.
  4. Each press of the power button will dim keypad backlights. Pressing and holding this button will turn off all keypad backlights; this can be helpful to eliminate lights at night.

Troubleshooting:
From time to time, troubleshooting the CZone system may require a software update.  If this is the case, Vandoit will send you the software update as a config file on a USB drive.  Once you receive the drive, follow the instructions in this video to upload the config file: https://youtu.be/Cyv2n0B8Hfs

The USB cords referenced in the video are accessible by removing the cubby on the passenger side of the van, to the right of the glove box:
